Hanten is a chainette construction yarn made from ultra soft, extra fine, superwash merino with a nylon binder. Its unique structure forms a miniature tube that expands to fill the stitches in your work, creating a fabric that is airy, and deceptively light, for how warm it wears.
Because of the chainette construction, you get 400 metres of wool that behaves like a DK weight yarn in a 100 gram skein. It takes colour brilliantly, has a soft and pillowy hand, and plays beautifully with either of our fluffy lace weights, Furisode Suri-Silk, or Kosode Mohair-Silk. Use it alone for sweaters and accessories with loft and marshmallowy puff, or carry it together with something for an even more astonishing gauge (aran!) and added depth and halo.
Named for hanten, a short and puffy padded jacket worn for work and warmth, this yarn is both a workhorse (look at that metrage!), and a luxury.
NB: These skeins are ready to ship, which means these have been dyed and are in stock, ready to go!
You'll notice some of these are (P) Prototype (iterative batches dyed on the path to becoming a permanent colourway.) or B-Side (batches that while beautiful, were not exactly what we were looking for.)
