We carefully package all yarn orders in silk paper, a wax envelope, then a sturdy brown craft envelope (or box, depending on the size of your order!) All this packaging is recyclable, which is important to us. We are trying to use the least plastic possible. Each skein is protected as best we can manage, to prevent damage during transport. 

Shipping costs are calculated based on your location and the weight of your order. You should see the shipping methods available for your region at checkout before completing your purchase. 

We know that some of the international shipping options are quite high, and we regret that, but we are a small business and do not ship in high enough volumes to get the most favourable rates. We are trying to find options to lower the costs but there is only so much we can do. Please accept our apologies, and know we're working on it!

It can take Annie up to three working days to get your packages prepared for delivery. After they've shipped, delivery times vary depending on your location. Domestic orders typically arrive within 3-7 business days, while international orders may take 1-3 weeks.

Yes! International shipping rates and delivery times will be calculated at checkout based on your destination.

Sometimes communication can can get a little weird between the shipping app integrations and our shopify boutique. If shipping isn't showing up for you first try using another browser, and make sure your full address has been entered.

Good news! La Poste is shipping reliably to the States again, which means we can finally retire the most eye-watering courier fees

Even better: now that the tariff and duty situation has calmed down a little, we can ship DDP (Delivered Duty Paid). Now there should be no surprises, once you enter your address at checkout, your cart should show you three things:

• the cost of your yarn (minus EU VAT)
• the duties due up front (typically 16%)
• the cost of shipping
  

Now the less fun part. Tariffs still exist. And yes, we're still a small business, so we don't ship in the kind of volume that unlocks the cheaper international rates. We wish we could tell you otherwise.

International shipping to the US (Zone C), approximate:

• 0 to 1kg: €40 / $46
• 1 to 2kg: €55 / $62
• 2 to 5kg: €80 / $91

(Dollar prices are approximate, based on the exchange rate on June 25th 2026, and costs can shift depending on the weight and volume of the parcel) 

We know this is pricy, but they really are the best we can offer right now. (For reference: under our old couriers a 0-1kg parcel cost €80 to ship, and we couldn't offer DDP at all!)

Absolutely! Once your order ships, you should receive a tracking via email so you can monitor your package's journey.

It's Annie all on her lonesome who manages all the shipping, and also handles delivery of the in-shop pick up orders (which means she literally gets in her car and drives the orders to Les Tricoteurs Volants, in the 10th, in Paris :) so we don't ship every day.

We try to ship twice a week, and prepare/drop off the packages to be picked up from Les Tricoteurs Volants once a week. We'll send you a notice as soon as your package has left our hands, or is ready for pick up!

If you are a consumer in the European Union, you have 14 calendar days from the day you receive your order to withdraw from your purchase, without giving a reason.

How to tell us

Send us an unambiguous statement of your decision before the 14 days are up, by email to Contact@thehareandthecrow.com , or use our withdrawal form. Please include your order number.

Sending the items back

You must return the items to us no later than 14 days after telling us you are withdrawing.

Return postage is at your own cost. We do not provide return labels and we do not accept returns sent carriage forward.

We strongly recommend a tracked service. The parcel remains your responsibility until it reaches us, so if it is lost in transit and you have no proof of dispatch, we cannot refund you.

Items must come back unused, undamaged, and with all tags and bands intact. We may reduce your refund to reflect any loss in value caused by handling beyond what is needed to establish the nature and characteristics of the yarn.

What we refund

The price you paid for the goods, plus the outbound shipping charge at our standard delivery rate. If you chose a faster or more expensive delivery option, we refund the standard rate only.

Return postage is not refunded.

When we refund

Within 14 days of receiving your withdrawal notice, to the original payment method. We may withhold the refund until we have received the items back, or until you provide proof that you have sent them, whichever comes first.

Items not covered by the right of withdrawal

Digital knitting patterns, once you have consented to immediate download and acknowledged that you lose the right of withdrawal.

We take great care in packaging, but if your yarn arrives damaged, please contact us immediately with photos. We'll work with you to resolve the issue quickly!
