Jinbaori Worsted is our woollen-spun, worsted weight base, non-superwash and full of character. This round two ply balances spongy rustic texture against a genuinely soft hand, with very attractive meterage for the weight.
The spin is tighter than Happi or Komon, which gives a softly beaded texture in the skein. Knit up, the fabric is dense and full with a velvety surface and plenty of bounce. Less dry to the touch than the appearance suggests, almost cottony. The low-micron merino is doing it’s work, making this soft enough for next to skin wear.
Spun to trap warmth while staying light, and built for bold texture, we named this yarn for the jinbaori, a sleeveless surcoat worn over samurai armour. Shows cables and texture fantastically. Use it for chunky cabled jumpers, accessories, and outerwear garments that need to keep their shape.
