Komon Sock is a worsted spun, non-superwash Spanish merino wool (sourced and spun by dLana) Rustic, but not rough, it has a soft hand and long meterage that makes it perfect for multi coloured stranded knitting. Sturdy and dependable without sacrificing softness.
Being worsted spun, the strand is more dense and compact than our woollen spun yarn in the same weight class: Happi. However it shares the same non-superwash benefit, it blooms after blocking and fulls gently, creating a cohesive fabric even when worked at a sport gauge, making the meterage per hank very attractive!
The worsted spin and Merino fibre together produce a final fabric that is surprisingly soft, spongy, and light, with a velvety finish that retains just enough rustic character.
The name comes from komon, a traditional style of patterning made up of small repeating motifs. This yarn is a perfect pick for classic colourwork, but it is far from a single purpose yarn! It makes light, hardworking garments of every kind, from jumpers and cardigans, to shawls, textured, and cabled pieces.
