Haori is our first custom yarn! Spun-for and designed-by us. A laceweight single, it's a unique blend of superwash merino for excellent colour uptake, non-superwash Rambouillet for loft and grip, and honey-coloured tussah silk for character and just a hint of sheen. Light, crisp, and quietly rustic, with a touch of golden glow.
It takes its hame from haori, the hip-length jacket worn over kimono for both warmth and understated elegance, we created this yarn with layering and versatility in mind. It’s delicate enough for lace shawls with beautiful drape and crisp definition, but also has enough character to hold to itself and full just enough to become one beautiful fabric when held doubled for colourwork, marling, or texture play. All this, and soft enough for next-to-skin wear. The possibilities are endless.
NB: These skeins are ready to ship, which means these have been dyed and are in stock, ready to go!
You'll notice some of these are (P) Prototype (iterative batches dyed on the path to becoming a permanent colourway.) or B-Side (batches that while beautiful, were not exactly what we were looking for.)
Both tags mean these batches are unique. Once they're gone, they're not coming back.
